Badminton Ireland
Is the governing body for the sport of Badminton throughout Ireland and is responsible for leading and funding excellence in Irish badminton, with specific emphasis on achieving excellence at major European/World championships and Olympic Games.
Scope of Position:
The National coach will manage the high performance programme in Ireland under the direction of the Performance Director and CEO. The National Coach will be responsible for the daily court and physical training of all players on the high performance programme.

- Demonstrates a sense of direction and purpose aligned with the vision, guiding principles and goals of Badminton Ireland.
- Targets gold level performance, striving to be ‘leading edge’ in own area of expertise seeking opportunities to improve systems.
- Continually makes efforts to understand players needs in an inclusive, outreaching, adaptable manner
- Behaves in an honest, respectful, trustworthy, fair manner maintaining consistency in words and actions honoring commitments
- Self-monitors work to ensure quality and accuracy raising the standards for quality
- Ability to work as part of a team and a comprehensive understanding of Olympic and high performance requirements
- Flexibility and absolute willingness to take on supervision of our athletes for inter-regional activities at weekends.
- Additional training regarding weight training and athletics desirable with at least 100 teaching units – this could also be done shortly after starting.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Work under the direction of the Performance Director
- Lead the National training centre / junior talent centre of Badminton Ireland
- The conceptual development of our processing and support structures.
- The conceptual improvement of the transitional club - regional training centre – Badminton Ireland Academy
- Independent guidance and implementation of the training for the groups at the regional elite centre.
- Guidance of and participation in the morning Badminton Ireland training.
- Planning (training plans, year plans, career plans) & support of athletes at inter-regional activities.
- Managing the “Athlete Talent Pathway”
- Communication with Irish Sports Council, Irish Institute of sport, Sport NI and SINI in the interface between the Badminton Ireland National programme and support services.
Qualifications:
- University Degree or College Diploma in sport related discipline or equivalent experience
- A Badminton Ireland level 2/3 coaching qualification or international equivalent.
- Over four years’ experience working at a senior level in the high-performance sport system.
- Previous experience working at a National sport organisation is an asset
- Computer skills and knowledge of the MS Office Suite is required.
Compensation:
The compensation package will be based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience.
